Before Burning
Before lighting your candle, be sure the wick is trimmed to about ÂĽ inch. If it is not, we recommend trimming the wick. This helps ensure a smooth, even burn without drips or flare-ups. For best results, avoid placing your candle near drafts, vents, or airflow. This will prevent uneven burning, sooting, and excessive dripping. To promote an even burn, we recommend lighting your candle for 2-3 hours at a time and trimming the wick before each use.
While Burning
Never leave a candle burning unattended, and always extinguish it before leaving the room or going to sleep. Never move or touch a candle while it’s burning, and avoid moving the container when the wax is melted. For safety, don’t burn a candle all the way down. Stop when there’s about ¼ inch of wax remaining in the container. When burning multiple candles, keep them at least three inches apart to prevent them from melting each other or creating drafts. If the flame becomes too high or flickers excessively, extinguish the candle. Allow it to cool, trim the wick, and check for any drafts before relighting. Be extra cautious when using candles during a power outage. Battery-powered lights like flashlights are safer and more reliable during these times. Never burn a candle on or near anything that could catch fire. Keep it away from furniture, curtains, bedding, carpets, books, or any flammable items. Always keep candles out of reach of children and pets, and never place lit candles in areas where they could be knocked over.
When Extinguishing
If you have one, use a candle snuffer to safely extinguish the flame, as it prevents hot wax from splattering. Avoid using water to put out a candle, as it can cause hot wax to splatter and may break a glass container. Always ensure the candle is fully extinguished, with no remaining glow from the wick, before leaving the room. Wait until the candle has completely cooled before touching or moving it.
